"This is a brilliant idea. It engaged the younger child, who the box was intended for, but also brought in the older kids to help play and be creative. It was enjoyable for all!"

Kate L.

"Both my girls loved opening it the first time! Lots of Ooohs and Ahhhs. The next day, they grabbed it the on their own and started playing independently- huge win! And they’ve done that every other day or so since we got it."

Tricia G.

"Well done! So cute, well packaged, lots to do in just one box. I’m so impressed!"

Amelia P.

The Story of Us

With two kids under three, in pandemic lockdown, I became desperate for sensory play that would actually entertain my little ones for a considerable period of time without spending a fortune or being wasteful.

Now, with each Busy Box I create, my hope is that you can feel good about providing your child with an enriching experience while allowing yourself time and grace for a moment of quiet, checking a to-do off your list, or stress-free time to be present with your child. Whatever fills your cup, I hope this can help in some small way.

XO, Sophie

One Box, Five Meals

I, like so many eco-minded mamas, often feel conflicted on the use of food-based sensory play. On the one hand, it’s a proven, largely safe, beneficial tool for children to learn, play and explore. It’s also a great way to make use of food items that may be expired or otherwise unfit for consumption.

But what about the issue of food waste?

There may not be a perfect answer, but I believe that using items like rice, dried beans and dough can be a wonderful way to expose our children to sensory play with minimal processing or mystery ingredients. I also believe in supporting food insecure families and children.

That’s why with each box sold, I’m donating five meals those in need through Feeding America.

Households with children are more likely to experience food insecurity. Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 42 million people may experience food insecurity, including a potential 13 million children. The pandemic has most impacted families that were already facing hunger or one paycheck away from facing hunger.

Together, we can help!
